Biography
Yuki Nakamura is a founding partner of Nakamura Law Offices based in Tokyo since October 2018. Before starting his own practice, Mr. Nakamura worked for Yabuki Law offices, a prominent antitrust boutique firm in Tokyo for more than eight years. During the term, he was seconded to Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP San Francisco office as a visiting attorney.

At Yabuki, Mr. Nakamura represented clients in compliance and litigation areas including international cartel cases, corruption investigations, multijurisdictional merger control and proxy fights. He also managed and conducted internal investigations for Japanese and foreign listed companies in the industries of consumer electronics, automobile parts, insurance and pharmaceuticals.

Mr. Nakamura now concentrates his practice on a variety of corporate areas, including cross-border transactions, M&A (due diligence and contract drafting), inbound/outbound business expansions, collection of claims, employment law, dispute resolutions and new business regulations.  His clients range from high-tech startups to public companies in the industries of digital advertising, IT (software, AI, VR, motion capture, etc.), manufacturing, real estate, and entertainment businesses.

Mr. Nakamura routinely provides Japanese corporations with legal services on reviewing and drafting contracts for sales, partnership agreements, manufacturing, outsourcing, licensing, distributorship, and employment. He also provides wealth management advisory services for Japanese individuals regarding offshore investment, immigration visa and inheritance procedure.

Recent representation cases include:
・Represented a Japanese manufacturer in its stock transfer to a US manufacturer.
・Acted for a Japanese major IT platformer on its negotiations with the Japanese Fair Trade Commission to complete its merger transactions.
・Acted for a Japanese sushi restaurant on its demonstration events with event planning companies in Manhattan, New York.
・Advised a Japanese hair salon on its takeover of assets owned by a US hair salon shop.
・Advised a Japanese shipbuilder on its compliance issues occurred in South America.
・Advised a Japanese real estate company on its business alliance with an Indonesian company.
・Represented a Japanese IT company in its dissolution of a joint venture with a UK company.
・Represented a Japanese advertisement company in its collection of claims from a Singaporean company.
・Represented a foreign hotel operator in its dispute negotiations with a Japanese supplier.

Mr. Nakamura received his J.D. from Hitotsubashi University Law School in 2007, where he completed the business course program. He also earned his LL.M. from Northwestern University School of Law in 2014.

Mr. Nakamura is heavily involved in pro bono activities and while he was in Northwestern University law school, he served as a member of the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law.

Mr. Nakamura is currently licensed to practice law in Japan and the State of New York and also registered as Foreign Lawyer at Singapore International Commercial Court.

Naota Suzuki

Biography
Naota Suzuki is a lawyer qualified in both Japan and New York. Since 2010, Mr. Suzuki has been handling matters in various areas, such as M&A, energy & resources projects, general corporate, banking, employment, financial regulations and dispute resolutions, at a big Japanese law firm and an international firm. In particular, Mr. Suzuki has notable experience in cross-border M&A transactions and projects. Mr. Suzuki has represented many Japanese and non-Japanese companies in these kinds of matters by working with foreign lawyers as necessary.From 2013, Mr. Suzuki studied at the University of Virginia School of Law and got an LL.M. (Master of Laws) degree there. He also got qualified as a lawyer in New York. In 2019, he worked at the Perth office (Australia) of the law firm where he used to work then and was principally engaged in  energy & resources matters. Based on his studies and work abroad, Mr. Suzuki is good at and passionate about providing legal services in the dual languages.In addition, Mr. Suzuki has been seconded to an insurance company and a foreign financial institution during his legal career. He always tries to achieve the best outcome for a client from a business perspective as well instead of just focusing on legal issues.
